From our original 1978 fleet. Still in our care. Still at your service.
In 1978, when Sir Geoffrey Ashworth established Mayfair & City Carriages at 42 Berkeley Square, the fleet included several motorcars that were already considered significant: a 1960s Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud, maintained by its previous owners to a standard that befitted its address, and a Silver Shadow from the early 1970s.
Most companies, as they grow, retire their original vehicles. We chose differently. Our Heritage Collection has remained in continuous care — not as museum pieces, but as working motorcars that continue to provide the most extraordinary journeys in London. They are serviced by specialists. They are detailed before every engagement. They are, in every meaningful sense, still alive.
To travel in the Silver Cloud is to understand something about the history of luxury that no modern vehicle can teach. The doors close with a sound like no other. The steering requires the lightest touch. The coachwork, hand-formed over decades ago, catches the light differently at every hour.

The Silver Cloud was produced from 1955 to 1965 — the last model designed by Rolls-Royce's in-house coachbuilding team. Its lines are considered among the most elegant in automotive history. Ours is maintained in ivory with a dark interior, exactly as delivered.

The Silver Shadow represented a new direction for Rolls-Royce — the first model with a monocoque body, independent rear suspension, and a lower, wider stance. Produced from 1965 to 1980, it became the definitive Rolls-Royce of its era.

Our vintage Bentley occupies the more sporting end of our Heritage Collection. Hand-built at the Crewe factory in the tradition established by W.O. Bentley, it speaks of the grand touring tradition that the Flying Spur continues today.
Our Heritage Collection is maintained by a dedicated team of specialists — not general mechanics, but craftspeople who have spent their careers working with vehicles of this era. The coachwork is hand-polished. The leather interiors are conditioned with products made for the purpose. The mechanical components are inspected before every engagement.
The original interiors are preserved where possible — patina is not removed, only protected. These motorcars are not restored to a showroom condition that never existed; they are maintained in the condition they deserve, honest and alive.
The 1960s Silver Cloud is the London wedding car without equal. No modern vehicle can create quite the same impression on the wedding photographs.
Our Heritage Collection is regularly engaged by production companies filming in London. We have appeared in period dramas, advertisements, and feature films.
For the 25th wedding anniversary, the significant birthday, the occasion that calls for something genuinely memorable — the Heritage Collection.
For occasions of the highest formality — investitures, garden parties, ceremonial events — the heritage motorcar is an entirely appropriate choice.
Yes — our Heritage vehicles are maintained to a professional standard, and we conduct a thorough inspection before every engagement. A backup modern vehicle is always available as a precaution, though it has never been required.
The Silver Cloud (1955–1965) has a separate body-on-frame construction and is considered slightly more formal in its proportions. The Silver Shadow (1965–1980) has a monocoque body, a lower roofline, and a slightly more modern character. Both are extraordinary.
